Our Wildlife

So this is one of our daily visitors. This tree is at the end of our balcony and the squirrels love to stop by to see what we're up to. Of course, the cats are useless and don't really care about the squirrels too much. I even tried to take Ares outside to see this squirrel but he wouldn't even look in its direction. Even with it sitting in the tree staring at us. Of well. At least we have something to keep us entertained.

What should I do now?

Okay, so being out of grad school is kind of nice but I already miss it and it's only been a few weeks. I don't know if I can handle not having lots of stuff to do at one time. This has led me to think of getting my doctorate in education. I'm even thinking of doing this overseas in either England or Scotland. I want the experience of attending an international institution and possibly even working over there. I know my husband wants me to get a job. I want me to get a job but I'm already getting discouraged. I keep applying to jobs everyday but I'm worried the economy is so bad and there are so many people who have graduated with a masters in my field that I would be able to find a job and we'll have to live with my mother again! I don't know if my asthmas can handle that!

I did apply for a job at the University of Edinburgh but I doubt I have the experience necessary for the position. It would be neat though if I got it. I don't know what Mike would do over there. I'm sure he'd find something though.

If I don't get a job soon, I'll go crazy! I'm sick of not being a productive member of society. I'm sick of never having the money to pay my bills. It's sad that if we actually made $25000 a year, that would be a lot of money to us. Ugh, it sucks. Okay, I think I'm finished complaining now.

Okay I've graduated....now what?

So, graduation was April 26th and I did get to walk, thanks to the generosity of some of my co-hort and co-workers. I had flown out to Colorado to interview for a position at a community college but it was not meant to be. I think the fact that I got stuck in that state for almost 24 hours more than I was supposed to be there was a cosmic sign of this. Oh well. I'm still filling out applications, checking out new areas of the country, and trying for a more permanent position than what I have right now. I love working for Target but I didn't spend all that money to be a cashier forever....might try for the corporate office though....that might be fun!

There have been ups and downs for the last couple weeks but now that all of my grades are finally into Registration, I'm breathing a little easier. I was worried I wouldn't get everything finished before the deadline but I did and it feels like a weight was lifted off of me. I am helping out at UA for the next month but might have to move in with mom for a little while and transfer to the Target in Flint, if they need another cashier for the summer. I'm hoping they do.

Ghost Hunters at EMU!

So, Friday night the Ypsi Public Library hosted Jason Hawes and Grant Wilson from Ghost Hunters. It was the best $10 I have ever spent! The guys were really great and down-to-earth. They were billed as giving a lecture on some of their experiences and ghost hunting, which is what they did, but they did it in such a way that it wasn't pretentious like some other paranormal investigators I have seen give lectures. It was like it was just a large gathering of close friends.

Jason and Grant did do a small power point presentation but they joked around while they went through the information. And they are definitely not psychic haters (they swear)! Hehehe. Anyway, it was awesome and it made me really want to see them again. Luckily, they have a new season, which started last Wednesday so it's going to be a good next couple weeks.

Yah! Warm weather and homework.

Okay, so the best thing that happened in the last couple days has been the weather getting warmer. It's almost 9 at night and it's still 54 degrees! I had to do my rounds of the different apartment complexes because I'm duty this weekend and it was so nice not to have my pen freeze up while I was trying to do the outside lighting chart! It was great! It was also nice not to have to bundle up like an Eskimo to do the rounds too. Of course, my husband likes the warm weather cause he can look at all the young college girls in their warm weather clothes.....or lack of clothes. You would think this kind of thing would bother me, but it never really has. I figure, if I look at guys, he can look at girls. It's only fair.... Wow, this topic just took a different turn....anyway.....

So, the weather's nice and there's a flood warning starting tomorrow because I guess we're supposed to get just buckets of rain here in MI. That will be just great for doing rounds...should make for soggy newsletters, which I have to hand out at some point this weekend.

Also at some point this weekend I have to watch a podcast of a board of trustees meeting at a community college so I can write a paper about it. That should be fun. I should really get started on my graduation portfolio too and maybe finish up the paperwork for the internship I did LAST SUMMER. Ugh, too much stuff to get done. Of course, if I would just quit playing video games I could probably get it done. Well, I get right on that....starting tomorrow. Night all!

The job interviews are coming.....

Well, the list of job interviews at OPE has risen to 8 now. I'm still debating on if I want to apply for a position that I received an email for the end of last week. It involves a very important dilemma...whether or not I could handle working with someone I knew years ago. Also, I'm not sure if I want to add anymore interviews to my list. I feel as if I have enough right now and I'm kind of waiting to see if anything more interesting will pop up during this last week.

The phone interview I had today went pretty well I thought. There were a couple times when I had to ask them to repeat a question because the connection through the speaker phone wasn't very good. I hope I hear from them again soon because, even though it would be place me within driving distance of my in-laws, I would really be interested in working there. The school seems really great, it would give me a lot of experience for the future, and the area around the school looks like it would be beautiful. Very scenic and postcard-ish. Well, here's to hoping!

Telephone Job Interviews

I find telephone job interviews extremely nerve-wrecking. The reason for this is because you can't read the body language of your interviewers to see if you are giving them the answers they are looking for or if you are even making a good impression. I had a phone interview the first week of February and I still haven't heard anything back from them. It's making me nervous. Also, I have another phone interview next Monday and another one the week after that before I head off to OPE (Oshkosh Placement Exchange) where I have 7 (count them) 7 job interviews set up. I wasn't nervous about that until I looked at one college's website and they have a countdown to OPE. NOW I'm worried about what I'll wear or how I'll act.....ugh. All I know is it better be worth it. All the interviews I have set up are really great schools and I would love to work at any one of them. I guess we'll see. I'll keep everyone posted on my phone interview that's next Monday.
